Year 5/6 Basketball Game: AAESS vs Brighton

Al Ain English Speaking School Year 5/6 Basketball team went to Brighton College on 19th September for a Basketball tournament.

The following students took part in the matches:

Liam Terblanche, Jiyan Basson, Muadh Khashkhusha, Andrew Johnson, Richard Kiereama, Abishek Nathan, Yusur Bilal, Ahmed Suhail.

First game we played against Al Ain International School.  Our defence started well in the game blocking all the opponents’ moves.  We scored a point and they scored in last minute. In overtime they scored the golden point and they won the first game 4 : 2.

Second game we started well and scored 6 points in the first few minutes,  Brighton College then scored 4 points.  Our team never lost focus and scored another 4 points. Final result  A.A.E.S.S 10 ; Brighton College 4.

Last game and rematch against Al Ain International School; like in the first game our team was aggressive in the defensive movements.

After a few minutes Al Ain International scored but our team never lost confidence and we turned the game with 4 points from Liam Terblanche.

A.A.E.S.S most valued player was Liam Terblanche with 12 points and the best defensive player was Jiyan Basson.

Our team played with fair play and with great enthusiasm.

Principal Andrew Thomas said, “Well done gents!  This is very encouraging and a great start to the season.  Miss Eagles, Director of Sport made a special call to me during the match to tell me how proud she was with you all and how well you were doing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next match!”
