Year 4 Celebrated Aztecs

Last Thursday, classes in Year 4 celebrated the end of their Ancient Civilizations unit by feasting like Aztecs for the afternoon. Students were able to make their own tortillas using a variety of traditional Aztec ingredients. . Most students went the safe route and chose corn (or maize as the Aztecs called it) but the adventurous eaters opted for more unusual fillings such as “salamander” and “iguana”. Everyone seemed to agree that the “salamander” and “iguana” tasted suspiciously like KFC….. To wash down their tortillas, students were given hot chocolate; the traditional drink of the Aztecs. Thankfully it wasn’t as bitter as it was in Aztec times!
