Last Thursday, a long rivalry dating all the way back to 2016 reared its ugly head once again.  AAESS staff members were able to put aside their primary vs secondary differences and come together to divide into a Men vs Women Netball game for the ages.  The pressure was on the women to prove their skills as they had loss by 1 point in the previous meet up.

Captain Emma Tapuai for the women’s team heeded the rallying cry early on and made sure the team spirit was high.  The women looked determined in their singular goal with matching shirts that showed the unity of the team.  Meanwhile, men’s captain, Tom McCandlish, was sidelined by a rugby injury.

The quarters were so nail biting that an early favorite could not be called.  Spectators fought back and forth as to which team had the endurance to be victorious in this annual match up.  Co-workers became enemies.  Friends became foes.  Husbands and wives…well…they still stayed together but they didn’t talk much during the game.

Finally, in the last quarter the women rubbed in their 6-4 lead in the last few minutes by adding another point to the board and ensuring their revenge was served.   With this epic rivalry now 1-1, who will get the trophy next year in the best out of 3 match?
