Paired Reading – 6th Form and Year 2s

A wonderful morning was had by all where the Sixth Form and Year 2 students had time to read together. It was fantastic to see the interaction between the students; the confidence of the Year 2’s reading aloud and the amazement of their ability by the older students.
This is a weekly programme that has been started at AAESS. Evidence suggests that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures. We place much emphasis on reading and all our students are encouraged to visit the library and to read every day.
