High Performing Student Returns to AAESS – 35 Years on!
It was with great delight & pleasure that AAESS welcomed back a past student: 35 years on!
Owais Rana came back to Al Ain, where his father has been living for 50 years, to see his school; or rather how the school has changed so much.
Owais left the school at Year 6 as the school did not have a secondary section at that time, and went on to gain the highest mark in the world for O’ Level Mathematics. He then joined the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he gained his BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science.
After working in London for J.P. Morgan Investment Bank, Owais joined their Asset Management group in New York as the Global Head of LDI Solutions.
Three years ago he became the Head of Pensions for the Conning Asset Management Group, also in New York, where he has had a very impressive and successful career, managing assets and mandates to the tune of $1.3BN.
Principal, Andrew Thomas said, “It was lovely to welcome Owais back to his old school and hear his descriptions of the school as it was 35 years ago. A lot has changed! It is also amazing to see ex-students and hear of their successes, like Owais’. I am always delighted to know that so many students go on to do so many great and wonderful things in their life, and knowing that it all started from Al Ain English Speaking School”.
