AAESS Girls Basketball

Both Primary and Secondary girls have had a fantastic start to sports this year. The week beginning the 18th September saw our Year 5 & 6 girls having their first ever basketball tournament. Whilst they did not win a game against Brighton College or Al Ain International School the girls played fantastically. With each game the girls grew in confidence and came ever closer to beating the opposition.  A fantastic effort well done girls!  2 days later was the chance for our Secondary girls to shine and shine they did. Our year 7 & 8 team narrowly missed out on taking 1st place by losing to Brighton in the final seconds of the game. Once again the girls played with real pride and determination throughout the tournament. The Year 9 to 11 Girls continued their winning streak from last year by winning all of their games convincingly. Showing amazing teamwork and tactical awareness the girls stormed ahead of the opposition to gain maximum points.  Well done to all the girls involved, we at AAESS are very proud of you.

Principal Andrew Thomas said, “I am delighted to see a Year 5 & 6 Girls Basketball Team finally represent AAESS.  Well done to these young ladies and the PE department for making this happen.  Like our 7 & 8 team, I’m sure we will see the great teamwork and hard work of practice, pay off, like we have seen once more with our 9 to 11 team.  These young women continue to carry the AAESS flag with pride and are all a credit to us and their families with the spirit with which they train and play. Well done to all of you”.
