In primary school, there are School Parliament Representatives elected from Years 3 – 6.
Each class has one representative. Year 1 and FS classes have their representatives chosen from Year 6. Before elections take place the students present their ‘manifestos‘. Once elected, Members of Parliament (MPs) remain in position for the duration of the year. Parliamentary meetings are organised by the teacher(s) in charge and there is a meeting convened every half term; minutes are recorded and circulated.
The MPs share ideas about ways to improve and enhance school life. Issues discussed are tabled at the Primary School Senior Leadership Team meetings for consideration.
The School Parliament helps organise fun, sporting and educational events throughout the year.
