40th Celebrations
The school has turned 40 years old and we have a party planned after the winter break, but to kick start the celebrations, we have officially opened our new Primary Science laboratories.
In a surprise ceremony attended by the Science staff, the first laboratory was unveiled by Mr Zaheer Abass, who has been a science teacher for over 19 years here in the school, and who took the title of, “ADEK Teacher Appreciation Award 2019” at the start of this term. Mr Abass revealed that the lab was to be called “The Binoj Laboratory” after our own lab technician, Binoj, who has been here for over 20 years. Binoj then unveiled the second plaque, revealing the name, “The Abass Laboratory”.
Principal Andrew Thomas said, “It seems only fitting that these two laboratories are named after these two members of staff that have been in partnership here in the school for 2 decades. They are the Batman & Robin of the school and it is only right and proper that their service is recognised in this way. It is a great way to kick start our 40th Birthday celebrations, and there is much more planned!”
