Principal Invited to Speak at BETT

Principal Andrew Thomas said that it was a huge honour and a privilege to be invited to speak at this year’s BETT Middle East Show.
“BETT, the British Educational Training & Technology Show, is the gold standard,” added Andrew. The show is to help educationalists understand how to maximise and get the best out of IT for teaching and learning.
Andrew has been asked to deliver a 30 minute workshop to educational colleagues, on how to digitise the educational environment, following his expertise and success in the UK.
Holding the Master of Philosophy degree in educational technology, Andrew has much experience of presenting at high level conferences and writing for acclaimed and respected journals, with his last speech being delivered at Chelsea F.C!
Andrew said, “It was great to meet with parents today at our open morning and share the vision for the future of AAESS. It is exciting times where, working with the senior team and the Chairman, we are looking to build a new Virtual Learning Centre here at the school, as well as all the other fantastic developments that we are pushing”. Andrew added, “I was blessed in my previous school to have been supported by a fantastic governing body and Principal, that allowed me and a team of experts to build a Virtual Learning Centre (VLC) from scratch. We designed that one on Google offices and we even had bean bags in a customised boat! Google saw it and were so impressed, they even broke their ‘no school visit rule’ and allowed me to take 16 students to Google HQ, which was like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory (although no student or teacher was shrunk that day!). Now I am blessed with an equally superb visionary team around me where the VLC at AAESS will be different and have a theme that will match our British curriculum. It will make staff, pupils and parents want to be there, and will be better than my last design! Naturally, the core purpose will be to encourage and inspire pupils to learn”.
Andrew carries the AAESS flag on the 7th April in Abu Dhabi with the kind support of Xerox.
