House System

Tradition, Competition, and Camaraderie

At Al Ain English Speaking School, we proudly uphold a traditional British House system that nurtures community, healthy competition, and belonging. Our four Houses — Armstrong, Cousteau, Stinnes, and Thesiger — are named after pioneering explorers and adventurers, each representing the spirit of perseverance, curiosity, discovery, resilience, and endurance that we aim to instil in every pupil.

From the moment students join AAESS, they are thoughtfully assigned to a House, with siblings placed in the same House to foster unity and family spirit.

Throughout the academic year, students participate in a wide range of House competitions — from sports and performing arts to music, drama, academic quizzes, and debates. These events encourage teamwork, showcase individual talents, and celebrate collective achievements.

Pupils also contribute to their House by earning House points through exemplary behaviour and by demonstrating the core AAESS values. Points are tallied regularly, and the House with the highest overall score is honoured with the prestigious House Cup at the end of the academic year.

Our House system is a cherished tradition that fosters lifelong friendships, promotes team spirit, and strengthens the vibrant, multicultural fabric of AAESS.
